Short Film Progress Check Part 14

This week, our group is getting the characters and environments ready for blocking and animation. The hallway and abduction bay are being white boxed and all of the characters have been brought into maya. The main character is in the quad-drawing and topology stage and we've started rigging with the spaceship. We've also been experimenting with Terragen and are trying to get our environments into Unreal Engine. We've had a bit of technical difficulties along the way, but we've been working on it as a team.

Me personally, I finished quad drawing and topologizing the character, making sure that we have the correct edge loops and edge flow for rigging.

Once I finished that, with the help of one of my team mates, I set up the character for advanced skeleton by cleaning it and making sure it was symmetrical. I also made sure the scene was correctly referenced so we can keep editing the character should we need to.

This coming week, I'll be working on creating a rig for the character so we can start posing and white boxing. But, for now, we have an alien to use for positioning and layout in the environment so we can plan for camera angles and lighting as well as scale. We'll be progressing into shot layout, once white boxing is at a workable state and we solve the minor tech issues. Overall, I think we're in a great place and the alien and short have come a long way.
