This week our group was focusing on white boxing of the spaceship, both outer and inner, with the art development we have as well as stylizing characters for rigging and to make it less realistic. We also kept going with textures and testing out terragen with space and clouds.
I, specifically, was a challenge with the progress on the alien. I was trying to figure out how to make the alien face riggable and to have good geometry for the body.
I was struggling to keep the alien cute, but adding detail, so I worked with another team member to fix the face so it was cute and riggable. Once we figured out the head, we merged it with the body and I worked on reprojecting details and fixing all of the valence vertices. I got the body to a good point and when I meet with my group outside of class I will check with the people rigging and see if there is anything I could do to make things easier for them before putting it into maya.
Next week we'll be trying to get the characters rigged or into a rigging position as well as working on the texturing and setting up scenes in unreal. We'll keep going with white boxing and characters so we can move forward with rigging and animation soon. More to come!
